Application Process for Fellowship ProgramPlease note that MCPSA's Fellowship Program will not be offered in 2008 or 2009, while MCPSA is engaged in other projects. Please check this page for information on the possibility of future rounds. Thank you! Eligibility:Teachers, administrators, and trustees of Massachusetts charter public schools-working individually or collaboratively-may submit proposals. Proposals from those already utilizing a best practice or innovation will be considered. Past recipients may submit proposals that cover new subject matter. Format:Proposals are to be 2-3 pages long. On the top of the first page the applicant's name, school, and title of the proposal are to appear. Include at the top right of additional pages the applicant's name and appropriate page number. Material in excess of 3 pages will be discarded. The proposal is to be accompanied by a resume, or resumes if applicable. Resume is for identification only, not for evaluation. Program is open only to those who are currently affiliated with a MA charter public school and will continue to be the (school) year following application. Criteria for Evaluating Proposal:In their proposals applicants are to respond to the following questions: Briefly describe the practice; help us visualize it as practiced. What need does this practice address? Why is the practice "best" or innovative? What are the goals and objectives of the practice? What are the obstacles to implementing the practice? What evidence is there of success? How might the practice be transferable to other public schools? How long has the practice been in place (how long have you utilized it)? Note: Proposals will be evaluated by outside readers using the above criteria. Readers will also evaluate a proposal''s overall organization and quality of presentation. Deadline:Deadline is typically late April to early May. Completed papers are due July 15 annually. Editing extends 1-6 months after papers are submitted. Call for Proposals is posted on the MCPSA Web site during each application period. General Requirements of Successful Applicants:A fellow--individually or in collaboration with others--writes a 10-15 page paper documenting a best practice or innovation already in place. The paper follows program guidelines (see "Guidelines for Manuscripts") and is edited by the Managing Editor of the MCPSA Fellowship Program. Authors may be required to revise their work. Fellows present their papers at a statewide conference sponsored by the MCPSA. In addition, successful papers are posted on the MCPSA Web site. Fellows are awarded $1000.
